ABOUT SARAH HILL

As a young girl, Sarah Hill spent summers visiting family in Switzerland, Florida and Nebraska. During her junior year in college, she studied in Salzburg, Austria. When she received her BA in history and German language from Mount Holyoke College in 1993, Sarah started Curzon Hill Antiques as a sideline and joined a computer services consulting firm, eventually working in Portugal where she pursued her personal interests and traveling. One of those interests was a love of antiques and old houses.

When Sarah's employer's contract ended, she returned to her home in Virginia, looking for ways to capitalize on her experiences and education. After spending a year working in an upscale antiques mall to learn the business behind antiques, she decided to open her own speciality store in the historic Old Town district of Alexandria, Virginia, offering antique linens, porcelain and glass as well as her now famous linen washing service. Her grandfather referred her to the Washington, DC, chapter of SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, which works in partnership with the Small Business Administration to counsel small businesses.

Impressed with Sarah's success in offering unique items and her eagerness in helping customers locate hard-to-find items, the DC Chapter of SCORE named Sarah Hill, owner of Curzon Hill Antiques, Client of the Year in 1997. In addition several national and local news organizations have also discovered and shared Sarah's story of success with their readers. Sarah's clients include senior executives of Fortune 100 companies, senior Pentagon officials and numerous Washington notables as well as Washington D.C. area museums. She has given talks to local churches and clubs, house museums, and national museums headquartered in Washington, D.C.
